Stelt u zich voor: een intiem concert in een salon in het Parijs van de 19e eeuw, een vleugel wacht op zijn bespeler. Op de plek waar het musicerende gezelschap zich straks zal verzamelen, branden kaarsen. Op de lessenaars muziek van dé pianogrootheid van die dagen. Frédéric Chopins 24 preludes zijn een mijlpaal in de klassieke muziek. Hij componeerde één prelude voor elk van de vierentwintig toonsoorten van het klavier. Ook qua sferen en emoties lijkt de cyclus allesomvattend. “In die stukken komt alles wat een mens kan voelen, denken en zijn, aan de orde”, aldus pianist Hannes Minnaar.

De Poolse hedendaagse componist en pianist Zygmunt Krauze onderneemt een tour de force. De ene helft van deze zeer pianistische muziek wordt voor het NBE geïnstrumenteerd, de andere helft wordt door meesterpianist Minnaar vertolkt. En speciaal voor deze gelegenheid schrijft Krauze één door Chopin geïnspireerde prelude voor het NBE én Minnaar.

Imagine an intimate concert in a salon in Paris in the nineteenth century, a grand piano awaiting the first touch of the pianist. The candles are burning on the spot where the company of musicians will shortly assemble. On the music stands the score of one of the piano greats of his day, the 24 preludes of Frédéric Chopin, a milestone in the history of classical music. He composed a prelude for each of the 24 keys of the piano. The moods and emotions of cycle are all-embracing. “Everything that a person can feel, think and be are present in the pieces’, says the pianist Hannes Minnaar.
The Polish contemporary composer and pianist Zygmunt Krauze will be undertaking a tour de force. Half of this pur sang piano music has been arranged for the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble formed by soloists from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the radio orchestras, The Hague Philharmonic Orchestra and the Holland Symfonia, while the other half will be interpreted by the master pianist Hannes Minnaar. And Krauze has composed a prelude inspired by Chopin for the NBE and Minnaar especially for the occasion.
